For Chris Olsen, the moment is never far away.
The longtime New Jersey high school football coach finally had won a state championship after losing seven times in the final and now as he walked off the field at Wayne Hills High School, his son Greg, the team’s star, gave him a big hug.
“It was a moment I’ll never forget,” Chris said by phone from North Carolina on Wednesday. “I can remember the moment like yesterday.”
The Olsens are hoping for another moment like that on Feb. 7 in Santa Clara, Calif.
Greg has gone from the star of his father’s state-title team in 2002 to Cam Newton’s favorite target with the Panthers. Olsen, the pride of Wayne, N.J., will be on the biggest stage in sports.
“This is the pinnacle of sports I think,” Chris Olsen said. “It’s certainly exciting.”
